SAD (Democratic) welcomes the SC interim order, rejects committee : Bir Devinder Singh

CHANDIGARH: With the intervention of the Hon’ble Supreme Court; the farmers' issue has become much more complicated. While SAD (Democratic) welcome the stay on the operation of the farm laws but constrained to thoroughly reject the second part of the order constituting a committee, which does not offer any amicable solution to the problems of the farmers. Even the cynical composition of the committee constituted by the Hon’ble Supreme Court confirms the suspicion of the farmers that the hearing in the Hon’ble Supreme Court was a premeditated act sponsored by the Government.

SAD (Democratic) feels that a very well thought through conspiracy was hatched by the central Government, under an impish plan to thwart the progression of the farmer’s struggle. Ironically, almost all the members nominated on the committee by the Hon’ble Supreme Court have their quantified known position backing the Agri Laws which are thoroughly being opposed by the farmers. The righteousness and intellectual morality mandate that these members, who have already dogmatically argued in favor of the central acts, must voluntarily recuse themselves from the task assigned to them by the Hon’ble Supreme Court to avoid any semblance of partiality or bias.

I wonder a similar proposal to constitute a committee was mooted by Mr. Sanjay Agarwal Secretary Agriculture, Govt. of India and other senior officials during the meeting with the representatives of farmers unions, held on January 8th at Vigyan Bhawan, which they rejected, quite candidly but the Government was able to manipulate the same through their ‘Machiavellian State craft’. SAD (Democratic) expresses full solidarity with the position taken by the farmers organization against the formation of the committee against the wishes of the agitating farmers and the role of the central Government in manipulating the formation of a committee, consisting of their chosen henchmen, through the route of Hon’ble Supreme Court, is highly opprobrious.

I wonder why the Punjab Chief minister has not reacted as yet on this major development in the Supreme Court or he has no opinion on the matter? His calculated silence on the most important current issue of the farmers of the State is seriously baffling
