Sacred Soil from Guru Ravidas Ji's Birthplace Reaches Punjab; BJP Extends Reverential Welcome
CHANDIGARH: The Sacred Kalash Yatra carrying holy soil from Seer Govardhanpur (Varanasi), the birthplace of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Ji, received a grand and devotional welcome upon entering Punjab under the 'Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan' commemorating Guru Ravidas Ji's 650th birth anniversary. At Lalru, Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab President Kewal Singh Dhillon received the sacred Kalash with deep reverence by bowing before it.
Later, at a state-level function held at Arya Samaj Mandir in Chandigarh, sacred Kalashs containing the holy soil were handed over to district presidents, who will take the yatra across different parts of Punjab. The gathering was also immersed in soulful kirtan based on the divine hymns of Bhagat Guru Ravidas Ji.
Addressing the gathering, Kewal Singh Dhillon said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' draws inspiration from Guru Ravidas Ji's ideal of 'Begampura', a society based on equality, dignity and justice. He urged BJP leaders and workers to transform the sacred yatra into a mass movement through active public participation.
Dhillon described the occasion as deeply emotional and historic for Punjab, saying that the arrival of the sacred soil from Guru Ravidas Ji's birthplace felt as though Guru Sahib Himself had come to bless the people of Punjab. He added that the BJP holds Guru Ravidas Ji in the highest reverence.
He said the Central Government has undertaken extensive development of Guru Ravidas Ji's birthplace at Seer Govardhanpur by constructing a modern langar hall, a grand museum and installing a magnificent statue of Guru Ji. He also highlighted the naming of Adampur Airport after Guru Ravidas Ji, the conferment of the Padma Shri on Sant Niranjan Dass Ji, and the launch of a special express train connecting Jalandhar and Varanasi for devotees as symbols of the Centre's deep respect for Guru Ravidas Ji.
Dhillon said that by including Guru Ravidas Ji's sacred bani in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Sikh Gurus established an eternal spiritual bond between Punjab and Guru Ravidas Ji—one that has inspired generations with the values of equality, fraternity and humanity.
Thanking BJP National President Nitin Nabin and the party leadership, Dhillon said the nationwide campaign running from Guru Purnima to Magh Purnima is not merely a programme but a national movement to take Guru Ravidas Ji's teachings to every household.
He appealed to BJP leaders, office-bearers and workers across Punjab to involve saints, religious organisations, youth and women in the campaign and transform it into a people's movement and a mission of service. He said strengthening social harmony, unity and brotherhood would be the true tribute to Guru Ravidas Ji.
At the conclusion of the programme, Kewal Singh Dhillon honoured members of the committee constituted for the successful organisation of the Kalash Yatra. Senior BJP leaders, office-bearers and a large number of party workers were present on the occasion.
