AMRIK SINGH | November 04, 2022 07:14 PM

AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the RSS and the Bharatiya Janata Party are making desperate efforts to capture the Shiromani Committee, the representative body of the Sikh community.

He said that the leader of BJP and the chairman of the National Minority Commission. Iqbal Singh Lalpura is asking the members to pay against the Shiromani Akali Dal under the policy of controlling the Shiromani Committee of the BJP. Along with this, big temptations are being given to buy Shiromani Committee members by the leaders who joined BJP from different parties. He said that many members of the Shiromani Committee have told him about this.

While addressing the press conerence here today at the Shiromani Committee office, Advocate Dhami said that earlier the Congress party has been interfering with Sikh issues for a long time and now the BJP is also following the same path.

He said that after the BJP and RSS controlled the office bearers of the Delhi Gurdwara Committee according to their wishes, efforts were made to break the Shiromani Committee through the Haryana Committee and now, going further than that, pressure is being put on the members in the annual election of the Shiromani Committee.

He said that BJP leader S. Iqbal Singh Lalpura, who is the chairman of the National Minority Commission, wants to harm the Sikh organization by forgetting the dignity of his constitutional position.

He said that the Minorities Commission is responsible for the protection of the minorities living in the country and to settle their cases, but its chairman is acting against the minorities according to the policy of his party.

He said that the annual election of office bearers of the Shiromani Committee is an issue of the members elected by the Sangat, in which no external interference will be tolerated. He said Advised Lalpura to stay within its circle and not allow BJP to interfere in the election of the Sikh body.

In the meantime, Advocate Dhami thanked Guru Sahib for re-announcing him as a candidate for the post of president of the Shiromani Akali Dal. Sukhbir Singh Badal along with all the leaders and Shiromani Committee members thanked him.
