Punjab Vigilance Bureau summons Daily Ajit Editor Barjinder Singh Hamdarad

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Vigilance Bureau has summoned Dr.Barjinder Singh Hamdard Editor-in-Chief of Daily Ajit Newspaper to appear in its Mohali office on May 29 in connection with charges of corruption in Jung-e-Azadi memorial.

Vigilance Bureau is expected to seek details of expenditure on the Jung-E-Azadi memorial. The VB has registered a case and investigation was launched following reports of large scale corruption in the memorial. The memorial started by SAD-BJP government was built at cost of Rs.300 crores. The previous Capt Amarinder Singh Government has carried forward the project and Dr.Barjinder Singh was made member secretary of the project. Dr.Bajinder had resigned from the post after Vigilance Bureau started pribe into corruption charges.

Dr.Barjinder Singh had also written letters to Prime Minister Narender Modi and Governor Banwari Lal purohit blaming AAP government in Punjab and Chief Minister Bhagwatn Mann for tarnishing his image.

Vigilance had also questioned Lakhwinder Singh Johal secretary of the Jung-E-Azadi memorial built at Kartarpur in Jalandhar district. The contractor who built the memorial has also been summoned, it is learnt.

Dr. Barjinder Singh had called on Prime Minister Narender Modi and informed him about the threats being issued by Police. Shiromani Akali Dal is backing Dr.Hamdarad and blaming AAP government for gagging the media.

Vigilance Bureau has made it clear that corruption in the memorial will bot be tolerated. A spokesman of Bureau said that any political leader or member of media if found involved in the corruption will be taken to task.
