Punjab Govt Commited To Preserve Heritage And Promote Tourism-Harjot Singh Bains

GURDASPUR: A martyrdom ceremony was held at Chhota Ghallughara Memorial, Kahnuwan Chhamb in this district on Tuesday on May 17, 1746, dedicated to the martyrdom of nearly 11, 000 Sikhs and warriors who were martyred in the war.

The martyrs were paid homage by the Punjab Department of Cultural Affairs, Legal and Legislative Affairs, Mines and Geology and Jails with special participation. Mr. Amansher Singh Seri Kalsi, MLA Batala, Advocate Amarpal Singh MLA Qadian, Brindarmeet Singh Pahra MLA Gurdaspur, Mr. Mohammad Ishfaq Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur, Mr. Harjit Singh SSP Gurdaspur, Mr. Amandeep Kaur SDM Gurdaspur were also present on the occasion. Mr. Raman Behl, Advocate Mr. Jagroop Singh Sekhwan, Mr. Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, Mr. Kashmir Singh Wahla, all senior leaders of AAP, Tejinderpal Singh Sandhu, General Secretary, District Heritage Society (former Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur) and Sangat were present.

On the occasion Cabinet Minister Punjab Mr. Bains inaugurated a 15 KW Solar Plant at Chhota Ghallughara Memorial, Kahnuwan Chhamb constructed.

Paying tributes to the martyrs, Cabinet Minister Mr. Harjot Singh Bains said that Punjab Government was committed to preserve the heritage and promote tourism and there was immense potential for developing tourism in Gurdaspur district.

He said that today he has come to Chhota Ghallughara Memorial, the land of martyrs and has been fortunate to remember the martyrs.

Cabinet Minister Bains further said that Mr. The state government under the leadership of Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab has taken major historic decisions in the public interest and with collective cooperation and efforts the state would be made a colorful Punjab.

He said that the land of Punjab was the land of warriors and great grandsons like Maharaja Ranjit Singh had made invaluable contribution for the land of Punjab.

He said that it was the endeavor of the Punjab government to serve the people of the state through all round development works and take Punjab to the pinnacle of development.

On this occasion he assured the district administration Gurdaspur that he would spare no effort to make Gurdaspur a tourist hub and whatever service the administration and AAP leaders would render. He said that Punjab government was preparing paintings of heroes, warriors and martyrs for which a grant of Rs. 54 lakh has been sanctioned.

On the occasion Deputy Commissioner Mr. Mohammad Ishfaq while recalling the martyrdom of the martyrs said that the land of Gurdaspur is the land of warriors and saints and the people of Gurdaspur have made invaluable contribution in the service of the country. He said that nations which forget their history do not survive.
