CHANDIGARH: Former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today asked the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to answer the serious charges leveled against his government by late Sidhu Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh for the grave security lapse of his son that led to his tragic murder.

He also expressed complete dissatisfaction over the pace of investigations into Moosewala’s murder, saying till now, the government appears to be completely clueless and is only dependent on the claims made by a foreign based gangster.

Balkaur Singh alleged today that his son was under continuous threat even during the election campaign. He said, instead of enhancing his security the Mann government pruned it and left his son as a sitting duck which eventually led to his brutal assassination on May 29, last.

Randhawa, while supporting the charges of Balkaur Singh demanded that the responsibility be fixed as to who were the people who decided to prune Moosewala’s security. He said this was a grave intelligence failure on part of the Mann government.

“While the assassins were very much in his village and surrounding and recceing Moosewala’s house, the Mann government decided to withdraw his security at that time only”, Randhawa pointed out, asking, how come the intelligence could not make out that he was under such a serious threat.

Moreover, he added, the assassins might have been planning the murder for quite some time and despite that the state police could not assess the actual threat perception of the late singer. Had the state police acted responsibly the precious life would have been saved, he said.
