PATIALA:Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University is organizing International Webinar on the topic “Significance of open University System: Realization of the vision of Jagat Guru Nanak Dev ji” on 29th November, 2020 .
Prof Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University proudly said that this university was Established by Punjab Govt on the auspicious occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji last year . Prof Singh informed that now the University is going to start the educational programmes.
Regarding this Webinar , Vice Chancellor informed that in the inaugural session, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh; Minister of Higher Education S. Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa; Secretary UGC Prof Rajnish Jain, Additional Director General, Deptt of Higher Education, Govt of India Sh Madan Mohan will participate. Keynote address shall be delivered by Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Indira Gandhi National Open University.
After the inaugural session, there will be two panel discussions. First Panel Discussion will be deliberating on the challenges and opportunities for Open Universities, where Vice-Chancellors of five Universities will share their experiences. Second panel discussion will be chaired by Padam Shri Dr Surjit Patar and dignitaries from USA, UK, Australia, Dubai along with intellectuals from Punjab will discuss about Punjabi Culture and ethos and how the Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University position herself to promote punjabi culture.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Karamjeet Singh also informed that Open University holds out the promise of employability and progress for the youth of Punjab. The vision of ‘Sarbat da Bhalla’ is going to be the driving force of this institution in every aspect. The University will act as a binding force for bringing together the Punjab Diaspora scattered across the World. It is expected that deliberations in the international webinar will guide the University to chart out the way to achieve its cherished objectives
