Financial assistance is being given in the form of subsidy to fish farmers who are engaged in fish farming

SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH NAGAR:As per the guidelines of Punjab Government, World Fisheries Day was celebrated at Fish Poong Farm Dhandua Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar under the guidance of Hon'ble Director and Warden Fisheries Department Punjab, Mohali. On the occasion, Hon'ble Sardar Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Minister for Rural Development, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development congratulated the fish farmers on the occasion of World Fisheries Day.

Invited The main purpose of celebrating this day is to motivate people to conserve and use fish resources in natural waters properly, so that these resources can be conserved for future generations. In his congratulatory message, he said that the state government was making all out efforts to conserve these natural resources and achieve maximum fish production in the fish ponds. These initiatives are also generating employment opportunities in rural areas.
Speaking on the occasion Assistant Project Officer Fisheries Dhanduan Bhim Sen said that Punjab was moving towards a blue revolution in the field of fisheries. To start this business, the government through the National Fisheries Development Board provides financial assistance in the form of subsidy to the fish farmers who have taken up the fish business. The Government of India has formulated a scheme "Pradhan Mantri Matsiya Sampada Yojana" to increase the income of fish farmers who are engaged in fish farming for five years from 2020-2021 to 2024-25. The scheme aims to increase the income of fish farmers by increasing the production of fish through new technologies such as RAS and bioflakes for adoption of small scale fish farming. The purpose of this scheme is to engage small fish farmers, middle class fish farmers in this business and increase their income. In addition, four wheelers, three wheelers and two wheelers will be used to transport fresh fish for the convenience of fishmongers and fishermen and to provide new employment opportunities to the youth.
