PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | November 24, 2020 04:18 PM

CHANDIGARH:The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has slammed the Modi government at the Centre and Captain government in the state for targeting the farmers of Punjab, adding that both were hand in glove with each other in shoving the country's 'annadatta' into an abysmal mess.
It further said that they were targeting the beleaguered farmers at a crucial time when they fighting relentlessly to save their lands, while Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh was facilitating smuggling of paddy and cotton from other states at throwaway prices and to sell them in Punjab's 'mandis' at an exorbitant rate.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters in Chandigarh here on Tuesday , Talwandi Sabo MLA Prof Baljinder Kaur said that CM Captain Aamrindder Singh was indulging in skulduggery, just to appease prime minister Narendra Modi by cheating them at will.
Prof. Baljinder Kaur said that CM Capt. Amarinder Singh, instead of holding hands of the farmers in the state and helped resolved their issues and concerns, he chose to side with the those involved in facilitating smugglers to purchase paddy and cotton from other states, like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and parts of Rajasthan and selling them in Punjab 'mandis' at an exorbitant price, saying his stoic silence had exposed his anti-farmer stance.
The AAP MLA said that in the recent past, the people of Punjab and the farmers' organizations had seized truckloads ferrying illegal goods from outside the state, saying the government had failed to initiate action against those found guilty of the deal.
Prof. Baljinder Kaur said that the FIRs registered by the police against them was nothing but an eye wash to mislead the people and encourage the smuggler to have a free run. She added that the Captain government should stop extending patronage to all kinds of smugglers and hold hands of the people of the state.
