Archaeological Department visited the Jora Ghar in Golden Temple and excavated the parking lot

AMRITSAR: A team from the Archaeological Department visited the Jora Ghar under construction and excavated the parking lot for inspection of structure which was found during the digging for construction of jora ghar.

Talking to medis, team's Deputy Archaeologist AK Tewari said that the building has been inspected and in next one week we will submit our report to the Deputy Commissioner Amritsar.

He said that Amritsar was an old city and there could be more such buildings around Golden Temple. We will submit our detailed report on the present structure along with photographs to the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar in the next few days who will make an official statement in this regard.

The team meticulously inspected the building, measured the building and prepared innumerable photographs.


The Kaar seva personnel led by Baba Sukhwinder Singh Baba Sukha carefully removed the dirt on the structure.

On this occasion, draftsman Sukhpal Singh measured the underground building and found out the condition inside the building.

He denied that his team had taken samples of the underground building or the materials used in the construction of the building.

He said that we can only tell how old this building is.

Giving information to the team, the manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Mr. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal said that according to the history Sant Singh and his family lived there. It is said to be the private building of the family.

Mr. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, Manager, Golden Temple, Mr. Narinder Singh Mathrewal, Additional Manager, Baba Sukhwinder Singh Bhuriwale, Kaar seva and Mr. Akshit Koshik, Archaeologist of the Archaeological Department Photographer Kapil Koshik, PUDA SDO Zorawar Singh, Manbir Singh and Supervisor Rakesh Kumar were also present.
