Anti-Sacrilege Bill Becomes Law In Punjab After Getting Nod from Governor of Punjab: Kultar Singh Sandhwan

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S Kultar Singh Sandhwan delightedly informed that Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has given an assent to The Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill 2026. This Anti-Sacrilege Bill was passed by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on 13th April, 2026 under the visionary leadership of S. Bhagwant Singh Mann Chief Minister of Punjab.

Speaker Sandhwan informed that this Anti Sacrilege Act mandates life imprisonment and heavy fines for sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He felt very glad to inform that God gave me this opportunity to enhance religious protection and communal harmony. This was a long standing demand of the Punjabis pertaining to religious desecration which has been fulfilled by our Government.
