CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress MLA Pargat Singh today alleged that an aide of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has threatened him to get ready to face Vigilance cases. Pargat Sindhu has taken a strong stand against the alleged threat to him which is aimed to stop him from supporting Navjot Singh Sidhu, MLA from Amritsar East.

The Chief Minister office has not yet responded to allegations by Pargat Singh but Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar said that these were rumors and Congress party dont believe in politics of revenge. He said that neither any offensive against party MLAs was done ion the past and nor can happen in future. Sandeep Sandhu has also denied that he had made any call to Pargat Singh.

Pargat Singh said that he had remained captain of Indian Hockey team for ten years and came to politics to improve the living of people of Punjab. He said that he never thought politics was such a dirty game. He said that he always remained in party decipline and respected Capt Amarinder Singh. He said that Sandeep Sandhu OSD in CM office had called him yesterday night to give threat on behalf of CM.

Pargat Singh also told Chief Minister he was ready to face any challenge. If CM wanted to use vigilance against him, he was ready to rebutt it. He said that similar threats are being given to Navjot Sidhu and Charanjit Singh Channi. He said that till two months back CM was ready to take back Sidhu in his cabinet. If there was any evidence was available against Sidhu, CM should have told Sidhu about it when he met him.

Partap Singh Bajwa former PPC member and Rajya Sabha member also advised Capt Amarinder Singh to desist from such an action He said that people of Punjab wanted to put Badals behind bars for their alleged involvement in sacrilege cases but CM has started to punish his own party men. He said that Congress party had won the election on the promise of throwing Badals in jail and CM has to fulfill this promise even if he didnt like him.

It is recalled that some of the ministers and MLAs had met Navjot Sidhu during last one month and raised the issue of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and state government failure in taking action against the guilty. Navjot Sidhu and others are demanding to put Badals in jail on the basis of evidence collected by police.

Punjab and Haryana High Court had rejected the report of SIT headed by IG Kunwar Vijay Parap Singh. The SIT had probed the firing on Sikh devotees protesting against sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan. A new SIT has since been formed by Punjab Government on the orders of High Court.
