Farmer leaders hold center government responsible for forcing them to re-launch agitation

SHAMBHU BORDER(Punjab)): The leaders of Samkyukt Kisan Morcha today held center government responsible for forcing them to re-launch their agitation for the acceptance of their demands.

Farmer leader Swaran Singh Pandher who is leading the agitation said that they had tried ther best not to start confrontation with the center government and they had gone to attend the meetings with union ministers with a hope that some solution will be found to pending demands, mainly giving gurantee for MSP on crops and implementing Swaminathan report.

Pandher said that they had no programme to block roads but it is the Haryana governemnt that blocked roads. We will protest peacefully without any provocation. He said that they were determined to reach Delhi. He said that center government issue MSP for 23 crops every year. "We only demanded center must give gurantee that MSP announced by government will be implemented. He said that center government had promised them to bring a bill on MSP gurantee and implementing Swainathan commission report.

He said that they would face bullets and lathis of Haryana police but go ahead with their plan to reach Delhi. He also made it clear that no political party was supporting their agitation. He held both BJP and Congress for anti-farmer policies.He also appealed the media not to give any wrong information. He said that 70-75 percent population is dependent on agriculture. If farmers are saved, nation will be saved, he added.

Pandher said that they had requested the Union Minister Piyush Goyal to make an announcement on loan waiver of farmers and modalities may be decided later. Unfortunately the union ministers were not keen to accept any of the demands and just passing the time. Besides Piyush Goyal, union minister Arjun Munda was also present in the meeting.

Pandher said that the BKU groups those are part of the agitation are also supporting them and they will join later. He said that all farmer organisations are united on issue of MSP and other demands.
