Paddy transplantation begins in Punjab

CHANDIGARH: Paddy transplantation started in Punjab today with Punjab government reiterating its resolve to help the farmers and provide them total support to achieve maximum productivity.

Punjab Agriculture Minister Jathedar Tota Singh reviewed arrangements and said that instructions have been already issued to ensure 8 hour power supply to the farmers. He said that state government was fully prepared to meet the challenge of deficit monsoon and irrigation department has been directed to run all canals to the full capacity so that farmers at tail end could get full supply. He said that control room has been setup by the Powercom to immediately redress the complaints.. Directions have been issued to canal wing also to run canals on full capacity to reinforce embankments of the canals,
