Breast Cancer Awareness campaign underway in Sangrur Schools

SANGRUR:Following the directions of School Education and Public Works Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, experts of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital Sangrur were regularly making the girl students aware of the causes, symptoms and available treatment of cancer. While his visit to the hospital to inaugurate the awareness and free screening program, the cabinet minister directed the hospital director Dr. Rakesh Kapoor to extend the awareness program to government schools. He asked them to sensitize the girl students about self examination to detect breast cancer which would enable them to pass out the message of early detection of cancer to their near and dear ones.
While divulging details regarding awareness program, hospital administrator Dr. Dimple Kakra said that the team of experts comprising Dr. Supriya, staff nurse Amandeep Kaur and Nurse Geetanjali went to Government Senior Secondary Smart School (GSSSS girls) Sangrur and GSSSS girls Bhawanigarh for breast cancer awareness and early detection of oral Breast and cervix cancer. She added that the team also gave lecture on early detection program and make all the girls and teachers aware about signs, symptoms, causes and treatment of breast cancer. She added that apart from distributing pamphlets for awareness, the team members also explained girls and teachers about self examination of breast cancer.
