GURDASPUR: In a shocking incident, two policemen were killed after allegedly opening fire on each other in Adian village under Dorangla police station in Gurdaspur district of Punjab on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Ashok Kumar and ASI Gurnam Singh. According to preliminary information, both were present in the village when an altercation broke out between them over an undisclosed issue. The argument reportedly escalated, leading to an exchange of fire. Both policemen sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
Senior police officials rushed to the scene upon receiving information and have launched an investigation into the incident. The police are examining all possible angles, including personal and professional disputes, to ascertain the exact cause of the firing.
Adian village is located close to the Indo-Pak international border, adding sensitivity to the case. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further details are awaited.
