LUDHIANA: Punjab Police today gunned down a dreaded gangster Sukhdev Singh alias Vicky near village Kohada in thsi district tonight.
Police Commissioner Ludhiana Kuldip Chahal sad that police was following the gangster. Three of his accomplices were already arrested by Police. The gang was active in robberies and other crime.
Ludhiana Police ASI Daljeet Singh sustained bullet injury on his leg in retaliatory fire, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, IPS went to DMC hospital to personally enquire his junior's well being and line of treatment.
Lauding the ASI for his courage in taking on the gangsters, CP Chahal along with DCP Jaskiran Singh Teja ADCP Rupinder Kaur Sra asked the hospital administration to provide the very best of medical treatment, and wished the injured policeman a speedy recovery.
Earlier, during an encounter with gangsters Incharge CIA 2 Beant Juneja had neutralised one gangster Sukhdeep Singh @Vicky in retaliatory fire at village Panjeta near Machhiwara. During the exchange of fire, the ASI had sustained a bullet injury.
Ludhiana Police will not let anyone take law into their hands and strictest action as per law would be taken each time against anyone trying to vitiate law and order, the CP said later while taking to the media.
The slain gangster Sukhdev Singh who had 18 FIRs against him, and his 3 associates were being pursued by teams of Ludhiana police for his role in the recent 6 incidents of armed robbery having shot 2 victims in the crime spree, the CP further disclosed.
3 associates of slain gangster - Aryan Singh @ Raja r/o Gorakhpur UP, Sunil Kumar r/o Bihar and Balwinder @ Bobby r/o Machhiwara Khanna - have been arrested from different locations.
2 pistols 32 bore, 2 rounds 32 bore, 1 lighter toy pistol besides 1 snatched Apache motorcycle, 1 Pulsar motorcycle and 1 Splendour Motorcycle used in crime has been recovered.
