Nurmahal Youth found dead under mysterious circumstances

NURMAHAL: A twenty seven years old youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Sunday.

The Station House Officer H.S.Maan said that the deceased has been identified as Kamalprit Singh of Poadharra village. His body was lying in a canal near Bilga village .The police reached on the spot and recovered the body and sent it for post mortem.

The police acting under section 174 of the Cr.P.C on a statement of Harjindar Kaur , mother of the deceased handed over the body to the family.

Woman among six booked for assault, rioting

The investigating officer (IO) Daljit Singh said that the accused have been identified as Kaushalay wife of Gurnam Singh a resident of Burj Hassan village , Karnail Singh, Jarnail Singh , Goshi Singh , Malkit Singh and Raju Singh all residents of the same village.

Satnam Singh a resident of the same village complained to the police that the accused assaulted him.

IO said that a case under sections 324 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt, 427(mischief) and 148 and 149(rioting) of the IPC has been registered against the accused .

Villager arrested for extortion
NAKODAR: The Mehat Pur police have arrested a village on the charge of extortion.

The investigating officer (IO) Swaran Singh said that the accused has been identified as Baljit Singh a resident of Singh Pur village.

Gurmukh Singh sarpanch of Khurla Pur village complained to the police that the accused extorted Rs 5000 by forcibly stopping tractor trolleys of residents.

IO said that a case under section 384(punishment for extortion) and 341(wrongful restraint) of the IPC has been registered against the accused that was released on bail.
