Delhi Police dismantle mobile theft racket; chain snatchers held in separate case

NEW DELHI: In two separate operations, Delhi Police have cracked down on street crime in the South-West and Dwarka districts, arresting key accused involved in mobile theft and chain snatching cases.

The actions led to significant recoveries and the solving of multiple cases, according to official press releases issued on Monday.

In the South-West District, the staff of Police Station Sagarpur arrested two accused, Ayush alias Nikku and Abhishek, for their involvement in a mobile phone theft and dismantling racket. Police recovered 15 stolen mobile phones, an ASUS laptop, a Lenovo tablet, a charger, and dismantled mobile parts from their possession. Four theft cases registered at Police Station Sagarpur have been worked out through this operation.

According to the press release, “a dedicated team… was constituted… to curb mobile theft cases in the area.” Acting on complaints, the team apprehended Ayush near Durga Park and Nagarvan Park on April 10, recovering two stolen phones. His interrogation led to the arrest of co-accused Abhishek, who was found with additional stolen devices and parts.
