MOHALI: The Mohali police has booked a leading real estate developer on the charges of developing an illegal colony and selling plots and flats withour mandatory approval from the GAMADA.

The accused directors of real estate firm GBP group were booked under Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act and FIR is lodged in Mullapur police station. The GBP group was accused of duping people by selling illegal plots.

Mullapur SHO Yogesh Kumar said that they had received a complaint from GAMADA about a colomy being developed at Togan village by the owners of GBP group. The GBP group has constructed their office on site and installed hoardings to sell plots. He said that while case has been registered, the police is trying to identify the directors of the real estate company for further action.

Meanwhile, Satish Gupta, MD, GBP Group in a statement said,   "We vehemently deny the allegations by GMADA that led to subsequent action by the Police without any proper investigation. As a law-abiding real estate developer, we have been working around Tricity since a decade and have also delivered multiple residential projects. We have a couple of projects ongoing on PR7 Road, Derabassi, Zirakpur, Mohali Extension and Kharar. GBP has always maintained its sanctity as a real estate developer and will continue to do so. Our request to GMADA will be to carry a fair investigation and understand our perspective as well. We have acquired the land in Joint Development Agreement (JDA) and built a temporary office in the location; however, no further development has been executed there for the past two years."
