CHANDIGARH:  Frightened by the peaceful agitation waged by farmers in the country against the agricultural laws for the last one year, the government is itself now creating turmoil to make the peaceful atmosphere volatile. The Haryana government gave proof of its arrogance by charging batons on peacefully protesting farmers near Karnal yesterday.

Dozens of farmers were seriously injured in the brutal baton charge on them by the Haryana police. One elderly farmer died.

Before passing the resolution condemning the excesses committed on farmers, all the former officers observed a two minute silence to pay tribute to the martyred farmer.
