RBU hosts seminar on 3-D printing

MOHALI: A seminar on 'Opportunities in 3-D printing and its applications' was organized at Rayat Bahra University. Dr. Charanjit Singh, Founder and Director of Modern Manufacturers, a renowned company in 3-D printing technology delivered a lecture on 3-D technology.

He encouraged the students and the faculty members to make the session more interactive. He emphasized on the need of this technology in the years to come, which is cheap, best and approachable to everyone easily. The students, particularly the senior students, shared their innovative ideas during the session.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Parvinder Singh inaugurating the session inspired the students to come up with innovative ideas and later translate the ideas into new startups. The Registrar of the University Prof. BS Satyal emphasized that the new technology is the need of the hour in a rapidly changing world.

Dr. Amresh Kumar, Vertical Head of Manufacturing Engineering, ACIC Rise, NITI, Aayog, presented the process of making the prototype of innovative ideas and taking the model to new startups, and finally patenting the idea.

Dr. MS Mehta, Professor and Head, Department of Physics, and organizing secretary of the seminar, shared his views on the need and scope of the new technologies in near future.

Dr. Rita Sharma, Assistant Professor in Physics, suggested that the innovation of thin film technology in solar energy will be a green solution in future and we must go for it.
