MOHALI: The Central Library of the Rayat Bahra University organized a library orientation programme for the new batch of students of 2020-21.

Chief Librarian Sakshi Bahl said that conducting library orientation programmes was an annual feature of the Central Library. The main purpose of conducting the library orientation programme was to acclimatize the students to the new environment as many students directly join the university after +2.

In his keynote address Dr Parvinder Singh vice chancellor emphasized on the importance of reading good books and the value of libraries in life. He shared his personal experiences of his college and university days. He said that in earlier times information was not as readily available as it was these days. Sakshi Bahl encouraged the hostlers to make the most of this valuable asset as it was available to them 24x7 on all days.

On the first day of the orientation programme Vice-Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University Dr Parvinder Singh and Registrar Dr BS Satyal and all HODs visited the Central Library.

The students were told how to access databases and they were also explained the library membership process. The librarian called upon the students to maintain the sanctity and the decorum of the library.
