GNA University bags second position in the Grand Finale of India Design Week 2024

PHAGWARA: Students of School of Engineering, Design and Automation of GNA University participated in the India Design Week 2024 organized by ICT Academy in association with Autodesk India. The event highlighted cutting-edge design solutions and inspired participants to explore new frontiers in design. It was also a testament to the future of creativity and technological advancement.

More than 8, 000 students from 16 states participated in the initial round of competition, out of which 100 teams (200 students) qualified for the grand finale. It was a 24-hour hackathon hosted by Sri Sai Ram Institute, Tamil Nadu. GNA University’s team bagged 2nd position in PAN India and received a prize of 30, 000 rupees, a runner-up trophy, and a certificate of recognition. The students' work was evaluated by a jury panel consisting of members from renowned industries.

The GNA University team consisted of two students, Mr. Amandeep Singh, and Mr. Gagandeep Singh, from the B.Tech Mechanical and Automation Engineering program. They were mentored by Dr. C. R. Tripathy, who also received a mentorship certificate for his remarkable contribution.

India Design Week is the largest Design Event for budding engineers who come together to learn and design for various problem statements. It aims to foster young talented minds in technical design and expose them to all aspects of the product design process using the Autodesk FUSION 360 software.

GNA University stood out as the only team from North India to secure a place. The team presented their designs and ideas proving their prowess in the field which were judged based on various parameters like Research & innovation, creativity, design aesthetics, and feasibility. Their designs were highly appreciated by the judges and they were able to make it to the top team.

Dr. C. R. Tripathy Dean School of Engineering Design and Automation said that the success of the university’s team in the competition highlights the immense potential and talent of young individuals in North India, especially in the fields of design and engineering.

S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra Chancellor of GNA University and CEO of GNA Gears congratulated the team and said that GNA University is always committed for promoting innovation and excellence in education and has enabled its students to develop a strong foundation in these areas, and the university’s efforts have resulted in outstanding achievements in national-level competitions. The university remains dedicated to providing its students with opportunities to showcase their skills and make valuable contributions to society.
