MANDI GOBINDGARH: Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh celebrated its 10th Founders’ Day with a lot of enthusiasm and fervor.
Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, along with Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, President Dr. Sandeep Singh, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh, and guests Dr. D. S. Grewal; Dr. Achru Singh, professor emeritus; Hardev Singh; Vice-President Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Dr. L. S. Bedi, Dean Academics; and Dr. Charanjit Kaur Sohi, Registrar of the Desh Bhagat University, were present on the occasion.
On the foundation day, Dr. D. S. Grewal, a former director of research at Desh Bhagat University, released his book on the life, journeys, and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev.
The letter of recognition from the World Book of Records, London, for the Chancellor’s father and the founder of the Desh Bhagat University, Sardar Lal Singh was also made public at the same time. The World Book of Records recognised Sardar Laal Singh’s valuable contribution to national integrity, social reform, and education.
Sardar Lal Singh, a prominent freedom fighter, was given the Tamara Pattra by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He was also associated with Netaji Subhash Chander Bose.
On this occasion, Desh Bhagat University also thanked some of its staff members who have worked with the university for more than 20 years. They included Kirti Sharma, Dr. D.S. Grewal, Dr. Achru Singh, Dr. Ved Prakash Upadhayay, and Dr. Dimple Sharma. Hardev Singh, Dr. Shalini Gupta, a former Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Achru Singh.
It was followed by a cultural programme. The spirit of the students was high when they presented cultural performances including folk dance, and fashion show etc.
In his address, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, congratulated everyone and extended his best wishes on the 10th foundation day of the university. He also highlighted the university's achievements in the fields of business, innovation, and research.
