Haryana Police arrests most wanted criminal Devinder involved in several murder cases

CHANDIGARH: In a major break-through, Haryana Police have nabbed most wanted criminal Devender, carrying a reward of Rs 25, 000 from Sonipat district. Police have also recovered a country-made pistol and two cartridges from his possession.

Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that about half-a-dozen cases pertaining to murder, attempt to murder, loot, theft and Arms Act were unearthed with his arrest. A team of CIA had arrested him following a secret input.

Divulging the details, he said that a CIA team during routine patrolling near Badwasni Canal bridge, had got a tip-off about the presence of Devender, a wanted criminal of district Muzaffarnagar, UP. Having illegal weapons, he was roaming in the area with an intention to commit another crime. Soon after getting the input, the team immediately swung into action and nabbed the accused along with illegal weapons.

Initial investigation revealed that the arrested most wanted criminal along with his aides had abducted and killed a person in 2009. A case to this effect was registered at Sonipat and a reward of Rs 25, 000 was also announced on his arrest. Court declared him proclaimed offender in 2011.

A case has been registered against the accused and the police will seek police custody while producing him before the court. Further investigation into the case is underway.

It is worthwhile to mention that following the DGP Haryana,   Manoj Yadava’s directives, a campaign is being conducted to nab the most-wanted offenders and criminals carrying a reward across the state.
