Vet Varsity organizes Capacity building Workshop on Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing

LUDHIANA: The Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Centre for One Health of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a two days National level online workshop for academicians, research scholars and veterinary officers for capacity building on Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing. It was organized under the scheme ICAR Niche Area of Excellence on ‘Antibiotic Resistance: Animal Human Interface’. Sixty professionals across India registered for the event.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GADAVSU appreciated the efforts of the faculty for organizing the capacity building workshop on the contemporary topic of Antibiotic Resistance particularly in the current scenario.

Dr. J.P.S Gill, Director of Research GADVASU in the inaugural speech highlighted the upcoming burden of antimicrobial resistance in both human as well as animal health sector and emphasized that such issues should be effectively handled within One Health framework.

Dr. A.K. Arora, organizing Secretary and Principal Investigator of the Project highlighted various methods of Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing. Dr. Jasbir Singh Bedi, Director, Centre for One Health, apprised the participants to the upcoming role of participatory epidemiology in context with the public health issues like antimicrobial resistance and explained various case studies going on at Centre for One Health in participatory mode to address the antimicrobial resistance at human-animal-environmental interface. The participants were provided an overview on practical application of the conventional as well as novel molecular tools for Antimicrobial Resistance Testing.

Dr. Bedi acknowledged Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GADAVSU and Dr. Sarvpreet Singh Ghuman, Dean, College of Veterinary Science for their kind support to organize this national level educational event.

Dr. Randhir Singh, Dr. Mudit Chandra and Dr. Pankaj Dhaka actively put their efforts for conduct of this event.
