Two Liquor Contractor’s Employees Seriously Injured in Violent Clash, Firing Incident in Kapurthala
PHAGWARA: Two employees of a liquor contractor were seriously injured after a violent clash and alleged firing between the contractor’s aides and another group in Dashmesh Nagar Colony late Tuesday night. The incident also left their vehicle extensively damaged, while police have launched an investigation to determine the sequence of events.
According to police, three spent bullet shells were recovered from the scene, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined as part of the investigation.
Liquor contractor Raman Kumar alleged that his employees, Gurvinder Singh and Ninder Singh, had gone to Dashmesh Nagar Colony after receiving information about the alleged sale of illicit liquor. He claimed that while attempting to stop the illegal activity, they were attacked by a group of youths armed with sharp-edged weapons. The assailants allegedly vandalised their car (PB-03-AZ-1011) and also opened fire into the air before fleeing the spot.
Both injured employees were immediately shifted to the Civil Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Their condition has been described as serious.
Confirming the incident, City Police Station SHO Amandeep Nahar said the matter is being investigated from all angles. He said the opposing group has also alleged that the aerial firing was carried out by the liquor contractor’s employees. Police are verifying the conflicting claims through CCTV footage, forensic evidence collected from the scene, and statements of both parties.
Officials said legal action will be initiated once the investigation establishes the facts.
