Training of Trainers at Punjab Jail Training School, Patiala

PATIALA: Conforming to the latest trends and innovations in field of technology and training, a five-day training course viz. “Training of Trainers” sponsored by Bureau of Police Research & Development, MHA, New Delhi to upgrade the professional acumen of the officials of Prison Department and also to introduce the latest trends in technology commenced at Punjab Jail Training School, Patiala.

The session on first day was inaugurated by a veteran prison officer Sh. Surinder Pal Singh, AIG-cum-Superintendent Central Jail (Retd) who emphasized on constant upgradation of the officials and called upon everyone to keep abreast themselves with the rapid development and changes in society.

Sh. Rakesh Kumar Sharma PPS, Principal, Punjab Jail Training School Patiala thanked the Chief Guest and welcomed all the participants. He emphasized that while working in jails, prison officials play the role of a trainer and perform multidimensional tasks. Mr Sharama said that under the able guidance of Sh. Praveen Kumar Sinha, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Prisons) Punjab, the training programme has been designed to develop prison officials as trainers so that they can professionally handle the challenging task of reformation of prisoners. The training programme is ultimately aimed at overall development of the prison officials both personally and professionally.

Major Pardeep Kumar (Retd), National Resource Personal and Recognized Trainer of DoPT, New Delhi organized training sessions for the participating officers. Sh. Mukesh Kumar Sharma, Vice Principal, Punjab Jail Training School Patiala provided the overview of the training programme and corroborated upon the importance of training. In addition to Punjab, prison officers from the State of Rajasthan and UT of Delhi are participating in the training programme.
