SAD (Democratic) demands immediate roll back of hefty fee structure of PPSC, unleashed against the candidates of general category: Bir Devinder Singh

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | March 25, 2021 06:14 PM

PATIALA: Why is PPSC charging exorbitant fees from the candidates belonging to General Category for various exams being conducted by the Punjab Public Service Commission ? It is atrocious that Punjab Public Service Commission is charging the highest fees from the candidates belonging to general categories, in the Country, rather much higher than being charged by the UPSC. The punitive measure put in Place by the PPSC, is not only fundamentally discriminatory but sounds ridiculous by all possible logics.

Why Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh as is in deep slumbers over the issue and wasting time and money of the State on his misplaced priorities? It sounds bizarre that despite being reminded, time and again by the PPSC Chairman Lt. Gen Surinder Singh (Retd.) the Punjab Government has not even bothered to prepare an agenda note for the Punjab Cabinet to rectify the glaring discrepancy in conducting the civil services exams by the PPSC.

Does the Chief Secretary to Government of Punjab Ms. Vini Mahajan entail the application of rocket science to understand the weird matter of grave concerns and complicity? I would rather beseech the immediate attention of the Chief Minister to take instant cognizance of the credible news report prominently appearing in the National Media, highlighting the brazen and atrocious negligence of the State Government in the matter. The Punjab Cabinet must remove the glaring disparity in its next meeting and bring the fees at par for all the exams and follow the pattern as being adopted by the other States in consultation with UPSC.

Another foolishly displayed advertisement of the Punjab Government, for the 124 posts of the SDO in nine Government Departments, the Punjab Government has put a ridiculous condition that every candidate will have to apply separately for each department thus ending up paying Rs. 27000 in all. The Punjab Government should not try to counterbalance its huge losses on account of extravagant spending by pocketing the loot from the poor parents of the appearing candidates belonging to general category.
