Rode's son arrested by Punjab police was a member of banned ISYF

PHAGWARA: Gurmukh Singh and Gagandeep, both arrested by Punjab Police in terror cases were members of banned (ISYF) International Sikh Youth Federation. Police told the magistrate who sent them on seven days police remand.

It may be mentioned here that the arrested accused Gurmukh Singh is the son of Former Akal Takhat Jathedar Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode.

Notable Punjab Police in a major operation has nabbed two activists of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) with a large quantity of weapons and exposed a major conspiracy to destabilize the state. The arrested activists include Gurmukh Singh Brar, son of Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode, former Jathedar of Akal Takht, a resident of Hardial Nagar, Garha, Jalandhar and Gagandeep Singh, son of Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Guru Nanakpura, Phagwara.

The Police also recovered a large consignment of arms and ammunation, including a tiffin bomb, five head grenades, 11 boxes of detonators, two tubes containing R. D. X. Suspected received from across border through drones. Apart from this, a .30 bore pistol, 2 magazines, 4 Glock pistol magazines, high explosive yellow wire, Indian currency of Rs. 3 lakh 75 thousand and 14 Indian passports were also recovered. In addition, the police recovered two USV Vehicles which have also been seized .

A case under Sections 13, 16, 17, 18, 18-B, 20 of the Prevention of Illegal Activities Act, 1967 and arms act have been registered at Sadar Police Station, Phagwara against the arrested accused. The arrests of these accused are being considered as a big achievement of the police headed by Senior Superintendent of the Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh. When contacted SSP Khakh did not comment about the incident and the details.
