PHAGWARA: Miffed over not being invited to virtual state level function for commemorating the birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Baba sahib Dr BR Ambedkar, former Punjab Minister and Chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Joginder Singh Mann today urged the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to reign in the power mad bureaucracy by ensuring exemplary action for disrespecting public representatives.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, the former Minister said that when the entire country and Indian diaspora was commemorating birth anniversary of Chief architect of Indian constitution Baba Sahib Dr BR Ambedkar on Wednesday, the sheer irresponsible and callous attitude of Phagwara administration had spoiled the entire festivity of this pious occasion. He further said that in a complete disrespect to Indian constitution where powers of Legislative, Executive and Judiciary are well defined, the Phagwara administration has blatantly ignored representatives of public by not extending invitation to majority of public representatives and Congress leaders, including him, for the event to mark celebrations. Mr. Mann said that this despite of the fact that a letter from Chief Minister’s Office had directed them to invite all the public representatives.
The Chairman of Punjab Agro Industries said that this is totally unwarranted and undesirable as the Congress workers have put in their sweat and toil to bring back the Congress in power. He said that if this attitude of officers continues then the day is not far when Congress party will have to face its adverse consequences. Mr. Mann said that if the Congress leaders and workers are to be ignored in such events then where stands the Congress government in the state.
The former Minister said that he had been a member of Punjab Cabinet, three-time MLA from Phagwara and currently chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation and till now he has been receiving invitation from Governor house, district administration and others. But, he said that it is surprising that Phagwara administration has blatantly ignored him along with other Congress workers that too when their party is in power. “Phagwara administration has willfully neglected us for the celebrations which deserves exemplary punishment so that it acts as a deterrent for others in future” he added.
The Chairman of Punjab Agro said that with around six months left for elections in the state how does the party expects to comeback if the officers will behave in such a dictatorial manner. He expressed hope that Chief Minister will intervene in the matter to uphold the respect and integrity of the public representatives by ensuring strict action against the laxity on part of officers. “In my entire political career spanning over more than four decades I haven’t seen such an autocrat and shameless working of bureaucracy and as a staunch Congressmen it is totally intolerable for me” he added.
