CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) targeted Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh over the ongoing mining mafia in Punjab, stating that it was only under the patronage of Captain that the mining mafia was plundering Punjab's wealth and filling its coffers; while the former sitting in his royal farmhouse, was busy spending time with foreign friends. In a joint statement issued from the party headquarters, senior leader of the party and the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Legislative Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema and advocate Dinesh Chadha said that instead of declining, the mining mafia in Punjab was growing rapidly.
They said that Captain Amarinder Singh was the kingpin of this mining mafia, liquor mafia, transport mafia and various other mafias, flourishing in the entire state including his own home district.
The AAP leaders said it was astonishing that the mining mafia had built its own roads in the rivers and installed pipes to draw water, but Captain's administration was blindfolded and was not taking any action in this regard. They said that like the previous SAD-BJP government, business of looting the government assets was in full swing in Captain's regime also. "It was a sign of Captain Sahib's incompetence that the government has recently admitted that only three cases of mining mafia were registered in the last four years, while the cases of illegal mining were not hidden from anyone, " they added.
They said that Captain Amarinder Singh had taken an oath to protect the property of the state while holding the office, but was now shielding the gang looting the assets. The leaders said that Captain Amarinder, his Congress leaders and cronies were running a plunder business of mining mafia to raise money for elections. The AAP leaders warned Captain Amarinder Singh to play his due role in rooting out various rampant mafias across the state.
The AAP leaders said that on one hand, the state's economy was faltering day by day and on the other hand , Captain was providing security to various mafia operatives to benefit his cronies. They said that the Aam Aadmi Party would launch agitation against the ongoing mafia rule in Punjab, to force the government to eradicate the mafia.
