Nawanshahr 's DC Randhawa Takes Stock of the preparations for the state level function to mark the Birth Anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh

NAWANSHAHR : Deputy Commissioner NPS Randhawa today held a meeting to take stock of the preparations of the state level function being organised at Khatkar Kalan on September 28, to mark the 115th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.
Randhawa said that the state-level programme will begin in the morning with patriotic songs by Lakhwinder Wadali. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan, after paying respect at the memorials of Sardar Bhagat Singh and his father Sardar Kishan Singh will address a public gathering backside the museum at the rally site.
In the meeting, SSP Bhagirth Singh Meena, ADC (Development) Amardeep Singh Bains, SDM Nawanshahr Major Shivraj Singh Bal, SDM Banga Dr. Gurleen Sidhu and Officers of various departments associated with the event were also present.
He said that there will be a state-level function before noon and in the evening there will be a presentation of the play 'Basanti Chola' by eminent artist Kewal Dhaliwal in memory of Shaheed-e-Azam. Cultural performances specially arranged by North Zone Cultural Center Patiala followed by a 'Candle March' will also be held in honour of Shaheed-e-Azam from Museum to Ancestral home.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, a half marathon and cycle rally will also be organized by the Sports Department on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh in the district.
He urged the residents of the district to participate with great enthusiasm in the morning and evening events, by adding that in view of the rainy season, suitable arrangements have also been made for people to sit at the backside of the museum, where prominent personalities including the Chief Minister will be attending the Birth Anniversary Celebrations.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the various departments to abide by the responsibilities assigned to them diligently. He said that keeping in mind the arrival of a large number of people, all arrangements including tent, decoration of memorials, ancestral house, cleanliness of parks and memorials, uninterrupted traffic management, adequate parking, drinking water etc. would be done well in advance.
Later, Deputy Commissioner NPS Randhawa also visited Khatkar Kalan and reviewed the arrangements being made at the venue.
