She also announced to provide Rs. 5 lakh to the victim's family and to construct a 2 km road connecting the village with Laut Mandi in the name of the youth.

It is worthwhile to mention that 18-year-old Navjot Singh, who passed away suddenly at the Singhu border on February 26, was the only child of his parents Jaswinder Singh and Baljit Kaur. Today antim ardas of the deceased was held at village Khedi Jattan.  Member of Parliament, Mrs. Preneet Kaur said that the callous attitude of the Modi government was responsible for the woes of farmers.

Mrs. Preneet Kaur said that the death of a young son is a big loss for the parents but she prays to God to give them the strength to endure this unbearable pain.  She assured that in this hour of grief of the family, she and the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh stood by the family as well as the struggling farmers.

Later on interacting with the media, Mrs. Preneet Kaur said that the deaths of the farmers would not go unnoticed and the Union Government would have to withdraw the anti farm laws at the end.  Replying to a question, she said that the Union government had earlier introduced GST.  She said that with the demonetization of currency, the people of the country were deprived of their livelihood and then under the garb of Corona pandemic, the local area development funds of MPs were stopped.  She said that she had also raised the matter in Parliament but it had not been responded yet.

Replying to another question, the MP said what the Union government should have done was to double the income of the farmers but instead, it has started harassing the people of the country due to inflation and the FCI that is meant for providing cheap foodgrains, is being considered to disband.

Mrs. Preneet Kaur said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led  Punjab Government had fulfilled all its poll promises despite hindrances created by union government like stoppage of GST share etc.

Talking to reporters, Punjab Cabinet Minister Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had taken a unique initiative to provide financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh to the families of the farmers who died during Farmers' Agitation besides providing employment to one family member.  He said that people of the state had shown the mirror to the opposition parties in Punjab by giving 65 percent votes to the Congress party in the Municipal Council and Municipal Corporation elections.  He said that the opposition parties that have no issue in the interest of the people of the state, were running away from the debate in the Assembly today.
