AMRITSAR: It is everyone's duty to maintain the sanctity, dignity and respect of the universal center of humanity, Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sri Darbar Sahib. The Sangat who has come for darshan often faces inconvenience due to some vilogors and media personnel unnecessarily asking questions and answering questions with the Sangat coming inside the Parkarmas. Therefore, the media should not make videos by asking questions and answering questions with anyone inside the Parkarmas of Sri Darbar Sahib.
While expressing this, SGPC Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan said that lakhs of devotees visit Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib every day to pay homage with devotion. During this, media questioning and answering the devotees not only hurts their religious sentiments but also disrupts the sacred rituals of the Parkarma .
He said that there are already orders from Sri Akal Takht Sahib that no biting etc. should be done in any way during the processions of Sri Darbar Sahib.
He appealed to all media organizations and the journalist community to refrain from conducting any kind of questioning or interviewing during the parksrna of Sri Darbar Sahib. If it is necessary to get the reaction of the devotees regarding any matter, then this action should be taken only at designated places outside the parkarma , so that the devotees coming for darshan do not have to face any kind of trouble.
He said that it is extremely saddening that the Sewadars stopped a private channel from recording the conversation with the devotees during the processions and instead raised questions on the Sewadars. This is not right and the media should follow the rules.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan also appealed to the press and media institutions to refrain from broadcasting any derogatory content related to Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sikh Gurus or Sikh symbols created through misuse of AI technology. He said that if such cases have to be reported, it should be limited to information of facts only and videos/pictures should be avoided or repeated. He said that the media should fulfill its responsibility regarding such sensitive content related to Sikh sentiments and encourage people to report it to the relevant social media platforms and authorized agencies. He also appealed to the Sangat not to promote such content but to report it.
