FEROZEPUR: A huge bicycle rally was organized on Sunday morning under the voter awareness program being conducted by the district administration to make Ferozepur district one of the leading districts in the constituency in the forthcoming elections.
Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Davinder Singh gave green signal to the rally and cycled himself urging the people to vote.
The bicycle rally started from Gurdwara Saragarhi Sahib at 8 am, passed through Udham Singh Chowk, Multani Gate, Makhu Gate, Zira Gate, passed through Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk and ended at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium.
On the occasion the Deputy Commissioner apprised the people of the power of voting and urged that in order to strengthen democracy every youth between the ages of 18-19 years should exercise their voting right by registering their names in the voters list. "Voting is the only way to build a country. We can use the right to vote to choose the government of our choice, so we should make our vote and use it without fear, intimidation or greed, " he said. And your friends and relatives should be encouraged to use the vote. He said that there are many countries in the world where people do not have the right to vote. Governments are not elected and there is no democracy. But in our country, thanks to the foresight of our forefathers, we have got the right to vote, so we should exercise our voting right without any fear. He lauded the social service organizations of the city for making this bicycle rally a success.
