CHANDIGARH: The AICC working president Somia Gandhi has given consent to appoint former PPCC president Sunil Jakhar as Chairman of the Electiom Campaign Committee for the 2022 Punjab assemly elections and Rajya Sabha member Partap Singh Bajwa as Chairman of the manifesto committee.
Jakhar who is annoyed over his removal as PPCC president has also been give place in the Scrrening committee for allotment of party tickets in the state. Navjot Sidhu was appointed PPCC president replacing Jakhar. At one time proposal to appoint Jakhar Chief Minister was also discussed. Jakhar is maintaining distance from the present Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
Ajay Makan will head the screening committee. Ambika Soni has been appointed Chairman of the Election Coordination Committee.
The screening committee will comprise Chander Yadav and Krishna Allavaru as members besides ex-officio memera Harish Chaudhary, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Charanjit Singh Channi, Sunil Jkhar and all AICC secretaries in-charge of Punjab.
