Forces that weaken Sikh institutions will not succeed: Advocate Dhami
AMRITSAR: The one-month period given by Sri Akal Takht Sahib to the Punjab government to make the necessary changes in the objectionable provisions of the law related to sacrilege has expired today, but the state government's failure to respond to this matter again shows the arrogance of the rulers and the lack of seriousness towards the Sikh sentiments.
This was expressed by Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj while addressing the congregation during the Miri Piri Khalsa March.
Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj said that for the Sikh community, the greatness of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Guru's Golak and the principles of Sikhism are supreme. The Sikh Panth can never accept legal provisions that hurt these sacred principles. He said that the Sri Akal Takht Sahib had given the government a month's time to amend the objectionable provisions, but the government's silence in this matter is worrying.
Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib made it clear that the Sikh community will never forgive those "Guru Dokhi and Khalsa Panth" individuals who challenge the Guru's Golak, Sikh institutions and the basic principles of Sikhism. He said that the Sikh Panth has always been committed to protecting the dignity, principles and national institutions of the Guru Ghar and is ready for struggle at all levels in the future as well.
Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj urged the Punjab government to immediately make necessary amendments to the objectionable provisions of the sacrilege law while respecting the Sikh sentiments and to establish contact with Sri Akal Takht Sahib to resolve this sensitive issue.

Meanwhile, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said in his address that Sri Akal Takht Sahib is the supreme institution of the Sikh community, which is not under the influence of any government or time. He said that due to the blessings of the Guru, the Sikhs and under the guidance of Sri Akal Takht Sahib have always made their religious, social and Panthic decisions. From the Mughal rule to the British rule and till today, the governments have tried to weaken Sikh institutions and traditions, but the Panth has never allowed them to succeed. The Sikhs, due to the grace of the Guru and the sacrifices of the martyrs, played an important role in maintaining the Sikh institutions and Panthic morality forever.
He said that even today, some anti-Panthic forces are trying to hurt the dignity and respect of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the SGPC, as well as to separate the Sikhs from the Guru's word and weaken Panthic unity.
Advocate Dhami said that the aim of the Miri Piri Khalsa March is to spread the universal message of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the principles of Sikhism, Panthic unity and connect the younger generation with the Guru. Under this, Gurmat Samagams will also be organized in every constituency under the ongoing Waheer Dharam Prachar Lehar.
Before the departure of the Khalsa March, a function was held at Gurdwara Sahib, in which Granthi Singh Sahib of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Parvinderpal Singh connected the congregation with history. After the opening prayer, the holy form of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was adorned in Palki Sahib by Singh Sahib Giani Parvinderpal Singh and the service of Chaur Sahib was performed by Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj. On this occasion, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami presented siropas to the Panj Pyare Sahibs, Nishanchi Singhs and prominent personalities.
The Miri Piri Khalsa March was warmly welcomed by the devotees at Dharamkot city, Jalalabad, Cheema, Kot Ise Khan, Gagaha, Janer, Luhara, Luhara Chowk, Landhe Ke, Bus Stand Road Moga, Main Bazaar Chowk, Baghipura Chowk, Bughipura Chowk, Dala, Butter Kala, Badhni Kalan, Baude, Luhara, Bilaspur and expressed their devotion to Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Tonight's leg of the Khalsa March will be at Gurdwara Takhtpura Sahib Moga, from where it will leave for the next leg tomorrow. The bus carrying the weapons of the Gurus and martyred Singhs and the pictures of martyred Singhs placed on different vehicles along with the Khalsa March were a special attraction for the devotees.
