Craft Bazaar in Amritsar from June 30

AMRITSAR: A craft market is being set up at Pytax Maidan, Ranjit Avenue, here from June 30 to July 10, in which various handicraftsmen from all over the country will exhibit their wares.


Disclosing this here today Deputy Commissioner Mr. Harpreet Singh Sudan said that this craft market was being organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and Punjab Government with the objective of promoting the handicrafts prevalent in various professions of the country.


He said that this craft market would display the handicrafts made by the artisans using wood, cloth, iron, stone, bamboo, jute, thread, glass etc. and people would be able to buy it.


On this occasion SDM engaged in craft market preparations. Amritsar-1 Mr. Harpreet Singh said that the craft market was getting full support from all over the country and so far about 100 stalls have been taken over by the artisans. He said that parking, drinking water, food stalls and swings for children were also being provided for the convenience of the people visiting the craft market. He said that it was being supported by the Red Cross in Amritsar. He appealed to the people of Punjab to rush to this market and buy the products as per their desire and hobby.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Kulwinder Singh, Advisor to the Punjab State Industry Export Corporation, which is managing the craft market on behalf of the Punjab Government, said that this market would have every handicraft stall popular in India and people would be able to buy their handicrafts from one place. Equipment will be available as per interest. District Social Security Officer Mr. Asisinder Singh, Secretary Red Cross Mr. Tajinder Raja and others were also present in the meeting held for the preparation of Craft Market.
