CEO Punjab holds special camps at all 23,213 polling booths for the facilitation of download e-EPICs

CHANDIGARH: The office of Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab organised two-day camps on March 6 & 7, 2021 at all 23, 213 polling stations in Punjab and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were present to facilitate download of e-EPIC.

e-EPIC (electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card) programme was formally launched by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on January 25, 2021, marking the occasion of National Voters’ Day.

An e-EPIC is a non-editable secure portable document format (PDF) version of the EPIC. It can be downloaded on a mobile or in a self-printable form on the computer. Voters can now view and print the digital voter card on their registered mobile.

Camps were held successfully with people in large numbers turning up to their respective booths to get assistance in downloading e-EPIC.

These camps were held with an aim to new voters first-hand experience about digitization process of voter ID card. In the digital age, this landmark initiative by ECI holds special significance for tech savvy young generation who are heavily into mobile phones and apps.

This will also mitigate issues like delays, loss of cards and not receiving the voter ID. This is yet another momentous initiative towards making country digital and along with other documents including Adhar card, PAN card, Driving Licence, Voter ID card is now digital.

In the initial phase newly enrolled electors with a unique mobile number during Special Summary Revision- 2021 can download e-EPIC and soon this facility shall be extended to all other electors.

Citizens can easily download e-EPIC using any of following online platforms:

• Voter Helpline Mobile app (Android/iOS)

• https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/

• https://nvsp.in/

All new registrations with unique mobile numbers are given digital voter cards in addition to physical EPIC. Existing electors with unique mobile numbers can download after authentication. Electors without a unique mobile number can get facial recognition KYC and get authentication for downloads.
