CHANDIGARH: Former Deputy Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha today demanded to withdraw Punjab Government order of One hour mandatory silence from 11.00 AM to 12.00 on every Saturday.
In a statement issued here Bir Devinder Singh described it a stupid order of an insane mind. He said that whosoever has discovered this novel idea of forced idiocy of one hour silence which is being imposed upon the citizens of the State of Punjab, such psychopaths needs to be identified immediately and be sent for urgent psychiatric counseling? After all someone in the State Government has to own and explain the scientific logic behind this order or if there is any time tested traditional or moral value the forced order of one hour silence carries, that also need to be explained. The people of Punjab are not the herds of Sheep’s and Goats to be ill-governed by superstitious whims and fancies of the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh
He urged the Punjab & Haryana High Court to take suo moto notice of this unprecedented fatuousness and the way public is being coerced to undergo stupidity. The one hour forced halt of all kind of vehicular movement sounds illogical and devoid of every standard of bare minimum common sense. It’s pathetic that the State Government is irrationally overindulging in superstitions in the super era of scientific discoveries and advancement in the study of medicine and medical research.
The Deputy Commissioners of all the Districts in Punjab, must seek the logical clarification from the Chief Secretary as to why the State Government is forcing them to implement superstitions by forcibly asking people to observe one hour Silence on every Saturday? Let the State Cabinet lead by example and all the Ministers must observe one hour silence to pay homage to the hapless victims of Covid-19, whom the State Government could not save, despite tall claims. The Exercise should be followed by the entire bureaucracy led by the Chief Secretary of the State on every Saturday?
Bir Devinder Singh said that the order of the State Government which is patently illegal, forbidden by law and utterly unwarranted by statutes of the land , that manifests brazen stupidity must be rescinded immediately before a public interest litigation is preferred in the Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court.
