2877 youths get jobs on first day of job fair at Nakodar

NAKODAR:First placement camp under the mega job fair was held on Thursday at Guru Nanak National College Nakodar wherein as many as 2877 unemployed youths got on spot job offers.

Divulging the details, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) (development) and Chief Executive Officer of District Employment Bureau Jaspreet Singh and SDM Nakodar Poonam Singh said that a total of 3482 candidates participated in the maiden camp of which 2877 received job offers by various companies.

He further added that a total of 59 companies including A One International, Winfinith Market Private Limited, Rank Step Education, Herba Life Nutrition, SBI Life Insurance, Bharti Axa Life Insurance, NIIT, Pukhraj Health Care, ICICI Bank Limited, AGILE Company, Placemeds, Airtel Payment Bank, Health Herbal Private Limited, V.N. Solution Services and LIC Nakodar participated in the camp to provide youths with ample employment opportunities.

ADC added that a series of job fairs have been organized by the administration at various locations under which 5600 unemployed youths have got jobs in the district adding a large number of companies took part in these camps.

He added that these job fairs proving booms for the youths by transforming their lives, thus enabling them to contribute in the socio-economic development of the state.

The ADC said that Covid-19 appropriate behavior was being observed during these events with special emphasis on wearing masks, washing hands and social distancing.

Jaspreet Singh added that the second camp will be held on September 10 at DBEE, followed by camps on September 13, 15, and 17 at CT Group of Institutions Shahpur, Janta College Kartarpur, and BDPO office Bhogpur. Several renowned companies would appear in these camps with massive job offers for candidates, he added.

He said that these job fairs have been working as a bridge between unemployed youths and employers with providing employment opportunities to youths on the one hand while fulfilling the requirements of employers on the other.

Terming this flagship scheme of captain government a mega success in the state, Santosh Rani of Nakodar, who was one of the participants, said that she was successful at getting a job in ICICI Bank today, which would enable her to become self-reliant. Likewise, Harsimar Singh and Karanveer were selected by Airtel who lauded the efforts of the state government to provide youths with job opportunities besides appealing others to participate in these camps to be successful in career.
