Dr Cheema discusses the issue of establishment of permanent regulatory authority at length

CHANDIGARH : The Punjab Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema discussed at length the issue of permanent regulatory authority in the state to deal with the issue of exploitation of parents being alleged by many NGO and parents association. Taking serious cognizance of the reports of the hefty fee demanded by some private schools in the state, the Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema called a meeting of the senior officers of the department to draft a fool proof mechanism to curb such kind of incidents.

Disclosing this here today an Official Spokesman said that this matter was elaborately discussed in the meeting and the Education Minister Dr. Cheema asked the officers to device strategy to solve this problem permanently.

Dr. Cheema strongly appealed the Private School Managements that they must shoulder the responsibility and take this issue seriously to resolve the disputes at the earliest. He said that the relationship between management, staff, students and parents is very important for the excellent running of any institution. Any breach in trust among them will cause irreparable damage to the fabric of education system. Therefore all private institutions should stick to ethics and evolve a self code of conduct so that nobody is able to raise the finger of suspicion on them.

The Minister said that to win the confidence of parents and students, they should put in place grievance redressal mechanism to resolve the concerns of the parents. Dr. Cheema also assured the parents that the Punjab Government is serious on this issue and soon would come out with permanent mechanism to check the excessive fee hike issue and their other concerns.
