Phagwara police officials solved a snacthing case within 24 hours by arresting three accused

PHAGWARA:Solving a snatching case in less than 24-hours, the Kapurthala police have arrested three accused in few hours of the crime besides seizing the looted money, 22 intoxicant injections, 04 mobile phones and one motorcycle bearing number PB08BF6569.

The arrested accused has been identified as Sadeeq Mohamad resident of village Satoor, police station Haryana district Hoshiarpur, Lakhwinder Singh alias Lally son of Santokh Singh resident of village Bohani, police station Rawalpindi, tehsil Phagwara, Kapurthala and Avinash Mishra son of Shiv Prasad Mishra resident of Missi Chapra, Police station Guthni, Tehsil Shivani, district Mairava, Bihar.

Talking to this correspondent here today Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that on Wednesday Phagwara police had received complaint about the snatching of money (1 Lakh, 10 thousand rupees) from an old man by some bike borne miscreants; when he was returning home from the bank.

Acting swiftly, Police teams under the supervision of Sarabjit Singh Bahia SP Phagwara, DSP Phagwara and incharge CIA Staff Phagwara Sub Inspector Sikander Singh rushed to the spot and started investigation by registering the case under the relevant sections of IPC.

The SSP said that a case has been registered on the statement of victim. During search, Phagwara police had great success when the police party reached village Dugga near stadium and stopped two suspicious bike borne boys and while checking police has recovered 22 intoxicants injections from their possession.
Immediately, the boys have been booked and a case FIR No. 68 dated 02-12-2021, under section 22-61-85 NDPS ACT registered at Police Station Rawalpindi District Kapurthala.

During the preliminary interrogation of the accused confessed the crime that on December 1, when an old man was on his way to village after withdrawing money from a bank then they stopped him and robbed him of rupees 1 Lakh and 10 thousand. While the old man was withdrawing money from the bank, Lakhwinder Singh alias Lally was also depositing his Aadhar Card in the bank. He came out of the bank and consulted his colleagues and the aforesaid accused began to chase after the old man. When the old man reached near Nangal Khera Road, then Lakwinder Singh got off his bike and pulled the pocket of old man’s shirt and tore it. Then they fled form the place and divided the looted money in an equal proportion.

SSP said that apart from the above crime, the accused has confessed to the following offenses. In October 2021, they looted 3000 rupees from one pedestrian in Ramamandi Jalandhar. In the same month, they robbed one mobile phone and 2500 rupees from a Labor class man at Railway Station Phagwara. In November 2021, they snatched purse from a lady at Hoshaipur Road. They snatched one mobile phone from a man at Palahi Road, Phagwara and also robbed purse from a lady at Urban Estate.

He said the aforesaid accused’s are habitual criminals who have been actively indulging in robbery and snatching activities. The accused would be produced in the local courts and would be taken on remand for completing the investigation.
