Kapurthala police bust inter state gang of cattle thieves

KAPURTHALA:The police today busted a inter state gang of cattle thieves by arresting its five members and recovered eight stolen cattle besides a Mahindra pick-up used ferrying milk yielding cattle.
The arrested accused have been identified as Mushtaq, Mohammad Sadiq, Hasaf Ali and Swar Deen all residents of Bardwal, Dhuri and Shokat Ali of Malsoora, Ludhiana.

Disclosing further details in a press release, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that few days back Satinder singh of village Mirzapur Dhilwan that some unknown persons had stolen his cattle from his premises on the intervening night of July 16-17.
SSP said that following the information different Police teams were formed under the supervision of ASP Bhulath Ajay Gandhi constituting SHO Dhillwan and in-charge CIA Phagwara to investigate the crime.

The SSP said that during investigation, police teams got a tip off that some thieves who were involved in cattle thefts from Mirzapur were hiding in Dhuri of Sangrur district then the police teams were immediately moved to the search the area disclosed by the source.

The SSP said that there the police teams arrested five members of the gang and recovered eight cattle and a Mahindra Pick-up (PB-07-BD-6419) used for thefts from the spot.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed of committing thefts of cattle for a hefty sum of money by selling in the market.

He said that the all accused were booked under sections 457, 380-B IPC registered in police station Dhilwan and would be produced in the local courts.

He added that police would procure further remand of the accused for deeper interrogation and more untraced cases of cattle thefts across Punjab are expected to be cracked.
