Animal breeders were made aware to take precautions regarding Lumpy Skin Disease of animals

GURDASPUR:While informing the cattle breeders about the precautions to be taken regarding lumpy skin disease of animals, Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Mohammad Commissioner Mr. Muhammad Ishfaq said that lumpy skin is an infectious disease of cows and buffaloes . This disease is spread by flies/mosquitoes/flies in cows and buffaloes . Traffic of affected animals should be stopped completely . For the treatment of sick animals, the nearest veterinary institution should be contacted . This disease can cause fever and skin rashes in animals .
He further informed that the precautions to be taken in case of death of the animal, such as the hole dug to bury the dead animal should be at least 250 meters away from the population and water source . At least 3 feet of soil should be placed on top of the animal after pushing it into the pit . Goat pox vaccine should be given to healthy cows, isolate the sick animal after the symptoms of the disease are found in the animal. The toy should be 8 x 7 feet in size and at least 6 feet deep and should have a minimum of 2 inches of lime on top and bottom of the animal carcass .
