CHANDIGARH: Aam Aaadmi Party (AAP) has named Sarpanch Gurmel Singh party candidate for Sangrur Lok Sabha bye-election to be held on June 23. The result will be declared on June 26.

Gurmel Singh is a AAP volunteer who is working for the party at grass root level for the long time. He is sarpanch of village Gharachon in Sangrur district. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has congratulated him.

His name has put to rest all speculations about sister of Bhagwant Mann or SSP Sangrur Mandeep Singh Sidhu contesting the elections.

Sangrur seat has fallen vacant after sitting MP Bhagwant Mann became Chief Minister and resigned from Lok Sabha. Bhagwant Mann was elected MLA from Dhuri seat.

SAD(Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann has already announced to contest the Sangrur seat while SAD and Congress are yet to name their candidates.
