RUPNAGAR: Youth Congress leader Surinder Singh Haripur, who was recently 'removed' as president of District Youth Congress President Rupnaagar has opposed the allotment of party ticket from Rupnagar constituency to Punjab Youth Congress president Barinder Singh Dhillon and urged the party high command to reconsider its decision in this regard. and give ticket to local candidate.

While talking to media persons here on Tuesday Haripur said that as many as 23 Congress leaders of the constituency had requested the senior party leaders not to give party ticket to an outsider and give the same to local leader. However, the ticket was given to an outsider Barinder Singh Dhillon.

He asserted that Dhillon had lost the last election in 2017 by about 24000 votes and this time he would lose the election as people of the constituency were openly saying that they would not vote for an outsider candidate..

He said that if an local leader was given ticket from Rupnagar constituency, the party would win the election.

Haripur said that he was an elected president of District Youth Congress and was still president. Barinder Singh Dhillon had no power to remove him from the post.
