Sikh Human Development Foundation (USA) Awards Scholarships Worth Rs 2.786 Million to Students of Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Sarhali
SARHALI (TARN TARAN): The Sikh Human Development Foundation (USA), under the leadership of its Executive Director Mr. Gurbir Singh Brar, organized an impressive scholarship distribution ceremony at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Sarhali (Tarn Taran), where scholarships amounting to ₹2.786 million (₹27.86 lakh) were awarded to deserving, meritorious, and financially underprivileged students.
Punjab BJP spokesperson Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala appreciated the Foundation's commendable initiative and urged other social and charitable organizations to come forward in supporting the education of economically weaker and deserving students across Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director Mr. Gurbir Singh Brar stated that the Sikh Human Development Foundation is a US-based non-profit organization working in collaboration with the Sikh Education Society, Chandigarh, to provide scholarships for higher and technical education to deserving students from Punjab, Delhi, and other parts of North India.
He informed that applicants must have secured at least 60% marks in their previous examination, belong to a family with an annual income of less than ₹300,000, and be residents of Punjab.
He also elaborated on the Foundation's various welfare initiatives in the field of education.
During the event, 100 students were presented scholarship certificates, with a total scholarship amount of ₹2,786,000 (Rs 27.86 lakh) being distributed.
Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Sarhali, was established in 1970 by Sant Baba Tara Singh Ji. Presently, under the patronage of Sant Baba Sukha Singh Ji, the institution is committed to providing quality higher education while promoting moral values, discipline, and social responsibility. Alongside academics, the college places special emphasis on cultural activities, sports, and community service for the holistic development of its students.
During the programme, Mr. Harjinder Singh Billianwala, Honorary Secretary of the College Management Committee, welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. Gurbir Singh Brar, Mr. Raja Singh, Prof. Dr. Jagdeep Singh from Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh, Scholarship Coordinator Ms. Prableen Kaur, Mr. Hardeep Singh, and other distinguished guests. College Principal Dr. Jasbir Singh Gill, in his welcome address, thanked the guests and encouraged students to make full use of scholarship opportunities to strengthen their higher and technical education.
A large number of students, their parents, and members of the college faculty and staff attended the function.
